My quilt

I created my own pattern for a quilt. I measured my twin bed and decided how long and wide I wanted the quilt, then deducted 6" from the legnth and width (for the border around), then I divided by 3 to get the width and by 5 to get the length. When I discovered how big each square would be, I deducted 3" off the size of the yellow ones, so I could add a brown strip.

Then I cut the fabric I had chosen for my blocks. Teal, pale yellow and brown.

 Then I took the yellow block and brown strips, pinned them and sewed them together.

Then I ironed the seam down. If there is a light color on a quilt, you always wanna iron the seam towards the darker color, otherwise it will show through the quilt. This and the above pictures were taken in Jan/Feb 2011.

In total I had 8 teal squares and 7 yellow/brown squares. This picture and all those below were taken on April 12, 13, 14 2012. Those are the days I worked on the quilt top. :o)


With right sides facing I pinned a teal and yellow/brown square together on one side and then sewed.

On the opposite side of the yellow/brown square, I pinned another teal square and sewed.

This is how one strip came out. I made 3 strips like this one and 2 strips with two yellow/brown squares and one teal square.

 I laid two strips the way I'd want them to look when sewn together.

Then with right sides facing, I put them together. And continued for each strip.

 I then measured the length of the quilt top and cut a 3" wide border. I pinned and sewed them, then  measured and cut a 3" border for the top and bottom.


And......

VIOLE! My quilt top (59" wide x 74" long). I can't wait to get the backing, so I can put this baby together. I already have the batting and my curtain fabric. :o) So, keep an eye out, you'll be seeing more. :o)

Obsess much?

Headless horseman atc swap. I printed a tiny picture of the headless horseman, colored the eyes orange and drew the covered bridge.

Zentangle eye swap. This was so much fun to make. :)

An egg shaped ATC that I made.

I made this in a vintage kind of look and this was my first time ever doing a vintage atc. I chose a lion for it cause my swap partner loves lions. :)

A private ATC swap that I did with a gal from swap-bot.

We were to make 3 zentangle ATC's for each other. These are the 3 that I made. I had such a great time making them, especially the last one since I really stepped out of the box and make patterns that I had never even thought of trying. :)
